The Biggest Preparer

We’ve all seen marathons of The Biggest Loser on TV and thought,

“I should do a little exercising today.”

Right? Well, we want to tap into this power of example.

The Biggest Preparer project will be like The Biggest Loser.  Except it’ll be way easier. And not on national television.

The other day I admitted that I’m not practicing what I preach. Even though I work for the Red Cross I have taken few-to-zero steps to get myself prepared.

Here’s another secret: I’m not the only one.

So, I’ve put out a call for some coworkers to join me in tackling these personal preparedness issues:

Who wants to be featured on Red Cross Chat? During September I heard a lot about preparedness but didn’t DO much about it. I work at the Red Cross and am not actually prepared for anything. I have the feeling some of you are in the same boat. Why not pledge to get prepared? We’ll document our progress on the blog. Please send me an email if you’re interested in getting a kit, making a plan and being informed (in public).  This will probably involve your name, photo, and some thoughts from you about the process of preparedness. Let’s set a good example.

Several Red Crossers have already stepped up to the challenge. We’re going to get together, figure out our goals, and share them with you in the hopes that our example will inspire you to take these easy steps yourself.

After all, it won’t be nearly as hard as losing 100 pounds on national television.

As we go along, let us know in the comments if and how you feel inspired to take a couple of steps in the preparedness direction yourself.
