Dog First Aid: Flickr photo winners announced!

Some of my coworkers think I’m a little nuts for creating it, but this Pet First Aid Flickr photo pool has been pure fun for me, the Health & Safety team, and hopefully for all the pet owners who participated!

Having fun while connecting with your community is what social media is all about.

Daisy & Charlie attention! Happy Dog

The winners are pretty arbitrary (after all, all the dogs are cute!), but the owners of the dogs shown here will each receive a free copy of the new Dog First Aid book.

One of the winners exclaimed,

How exciting to win the dog first aid book! It’s perfect as my dog was just diagnosed with diabetes a week ago today! Always good to be prepared for anything that might come your way!

I hope she won’t need to use the info from the book anytime soon, but what a true sentiment!

Please keep posting your pet photos! The first aid Lolcat contest will be open through the end of December.

Also, chapters all over the country offer Pet First Aid training.  Watch out for the dangling modifier when you talk about this subject, though. The blogger at SD Watch jumped right on it:

I just thought this headline in this morning’s Argus Leader (online) was funny:

Red Cross offers first aid class for pets

I think it will be hard for my two schnauzers and one cairn terrier to do CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on me. I think they’ll have trouble taking notes without opposable thumbs to help them hold their little doggy pencils. But if we can get more people–and non-people–the know first aid, I’m all for it.
