An Experiment

March 18th, 2008 · 5 Comments

The Background
Next week, the Red Cross will host its 82nd National Convention in Baltimore, MD.

The Experiment
We’ll attempt to live blog the activities there.

How you can help
Give us feedback! Let us know what kinds of content would be most interesting. For example, are you more interested in opinion interviews with attendees or reports from the Chairwoman? Both?

Volunteer photographer Robert Lott will be snapping photos throughout the event for the Chat and Flickr. Don’t worry, we’ll do our best not to flood Flickr with people standing around at meetings.

I would say anything you can get would be awesome. I was bummed I couldn’t attend- but this is exciting…now I can keep up with what is going on out there and be here! Great idea. Can’t wait to see. :)

I think reports from the chairwoman would be interesting. Also, I think this would be a good time to share with us what local chapters are up to. This is a perfect platform to provide us with up to date insight on what is happening on the ground. Will you be on Twitter as well?

I would just be interested to know what goes on at a Nat’l Convention as I have never gone. Also interested to note if its a good connector between Divisions, Regions, Chapter and Blood Services as well as individuals. Exchanging ideas and what we do is the best way to move to uniformity and best business practices.

As a member of the Emergency Services department of a regional chapter, I am looking forward to receiving guidance on what responsibilites we will be taking on, how record keeping will change, how DSHR will be administered, how will the restructure affect us financially, what will happen with service area assests and what will happen with the call center and chapter call centers?
I am interested in finding facts and possible good ideas/suggestions through this blog.

Hi everyone - thanks for weighing in.

Danelle - as always, thanks for your support. If there’s a way for us to provide better info for those of you not here, please let me know in comments!

Jennifer - I definitely want to stress that this is going to be an open forum for everyone to share what they’re doing, what they’re getting out of convention, etc. I am considering creating a Twitter channel - just not sure what the interest is.

Hi Janine - I wholeheartedly agree! This will also be my first convention. Hopefully we’ll capture some of the connections made and why they’re valuable.

Kelli- well, we’ll do our best to provide as much info as possible. Will you be at convention?
