This week at National Headquarters we’ve welcomed communications representatives from 60 different Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies. It’s amazing to hear so many accents together in one room.  We hope to share our best practices and to understand one another’s goals so that we can work together cohesively.

Tornadoes in Southeastern Virginia

Yesterday afternoon severe storms swept across southeastern Virginia resulting in three confirmed tornadoes in Suffolk, Petersburg/Colonial Heights, and near Lawrence in Brunswick County. The storms caused over 200 injuries, damaged homes and businesses, and left approximately 9,000 people without power.
