The new leader of the American Red Cross discusses the challenges ahead:
- She looks forward to working with newly hired Chief Development Officer Jeffrey Towers on fundraising.
- She says it’s beautiful to have a 126 year history but that same history can be a curse when it comes to shifting embedded systems. She’d like to improve our infrastructure.
- She says a key priority will be continuing to address the budget deficit.

Hi Red Cross and Friends,
Congratulations to Ms. McGovern ARCCEO .
I served in two wars and Y2K and in Disaster Response with redcross, paid and volunteer,
a new bride, and barely of legal age, when I ran to the bedsides of
VietNam casualties in stateside longterm care for bone and skin grafts. I continued thru the years, to help as possible,
and now donate my lifelong art for redcross benefit and to other charitable groups.
I donate thru my site, with discounts and outright gifts, and thru the famous eBay GivingWorks.
I hope the Redcross site gives the GivingWorks/MissionFish a link of its own at the site donations options, since the effectiveness of this option depends on folks knowing the option is available to them.
40 years after my first on site work with you, I still love Redcross, onstage and off! This means that they are a pretty remarkable organization.
I am still impressed with the ways Redcross helps. The integrity of the giving on site, when lives hang in the balance, still impresses me.
Important to note is the ongoing spirit of compassion in a scenario, or individual case, from first response, to last resolution of the case, rather than the “rescue honeymoon” followed by spats in the response followup relationship.
And supporting it all , the “little bit” of help in volunteering, donations and helping hands still does such a world of good. They use our gifts well.
The url, above, is to my redcross page at my patriotsite. I wrote it to share my stories, and to help my seniors, who knew me and were online and found my quiet little pages easy to access.
I wrote it because I had been so inspired and thought it should be shared.
I want to thank RedCross for the privilege of helping, thru the years. Our days are full of issues, but with Redcross, I enjoy the great feeling of being part of the resolutions.
I can recommend helping Red Cross, in every way.
Truly,
Elle Smith Fagan

Congratulations Gail,
I work with the Red Cross here in Collier County as a volunteer. I’m sure you will bring the intensity, focus, humor and success that has been your hallmark everywhere you have chosen to contribute.

I saw Gail McGovern with a team of Americans in Sichuan(China) helping to rebuild the devastated villages.
I am an oversea Chinese, born in Canada.
I wrote a song (set to video) to raise money for the Sichuan earthquake.
It is called “Sichuan Earthquake-Light A Candle In The Dark”.
This song will bring Hope to the earthquake victims. I would like to offer my help and work along side Gail through this song to help the victims. All money donated as a result of this song will go the charitable cause headed by Gail.
Thanks
Use the following link to play the song.
