Alerting you to the RCO (redcross.org for those of you who are new here) Myanmar Cyclone resources page.
From an International Federation colleague on the ground in Yangon, Myanmar:
As with similar disasters local Red Cross staff and volunteers are also affected,” said Bridget Gardner, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ head of delegation in Myanmar. “In Yangon many lost their roofs, have no access to running water and nobody in Yangon has electricity unless they have a functioning generator and can afford the high price of fuel. The situation in the delta is of course much more tragic with thousands of people still missing.

Thanks for the update. I’m glad they included info on contacting family. My significant other has family in Myanmar.

Dear Friends
We value organisation like the Red Cross and other NGO’s are actively involved in helping people and to save the lives of many people of Myanmar affected by the cyclone. We cannot be there physically to offer the help, but I would encourage everyone to donate generously to the many respectable organisation like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, World Vision and others.
Funds are required to supply food, fresh water, clothings, shelter, medicine, etc. I believe it is going to take a long time to rebuild the lives of the 1 million people made homeless. It is believed about 100,000 people have died… It means many have lost their parents and become orphans.
There is a big need… be generous and help our Myanmar friends.

Greetings from the Utica and Mohawk Valley Red Cross Chapters in Upstate, NY.
We have a very large Karen and Burmese refugee population here that we are working to serve to the best of our abilities. We are looking to build a network of Chapters that have Karen and Burmese populations in their communities to share information and ideas. Please contact me at jstarr@utredcross.org if this pertains to your chapter of you can suggest any.
