How your American Red Cross is Responding to Local Disasters This Week

This map indicates events that national headquarters disaster operations center (DOC) is assisting. It does not include the hundreds of incidents that individual chapters respond to every day (we’re working on being able to visualize that info).

In the past two months, the DOC has opened 24 large scale operations, many of which are responding to people who have been affected by destructive tornadoes.  This is an unusually large number. You may be thinking,

So what? It’s your job to respond!”

We say,

“Yes it is and we are doing it. Now we beg all of you to do your job. Prepare.”

You can start at the very beginning (a very good place to start!) today by Getting a Kit. Assemble your own or get a headstart by purchasing one of ours.

I am looking to find what area of Des Moines and Wisconsin is need of supplies. I am looking to find a local church within close proximatey of the flood or where people are sleeping and staying. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
