A Father’s Day Flooded With Love

Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there.

We have lots of volunteer dads helping those affected by the flooding and tornadoes throughout the central United States

(with 1100 Red Cross workers and over 900 of them volunteers, of course there are lots of dads out there).

One of them, Larry Fortmiller from California, describes why he’s in Iowa on his special day:

Larry goes on to describe the Father’s Day cakes making an appearance in a Cedar Rapids Red Cross shelter:

Don’t miss this heartfelt letter from a volunteer dad that’s posted on his child’s blog:

I read this letter from my dad at 12:05 AM Fathers Day. I won’t be seeng him this Fathers Day and In a crazy way im glad. He and 20 other red cross volunteers from Hendersonville NC went out to Indiana to help out with the tremendous flooding that has ravaged Indiana. I’m so sorry for these people. This letter choked me up when I read it. I know what it is like to loose everything you have and start over with nothing. This happend to me when hurricane Ivan hit the Gulf of Mexico. Here’s the letter….

Father’s Day

We had planned to hock our Redcross.org store to you earlier this week in an effort to remind you to get your dad something awesomely helpful for Father’s Day.

We were waylayed by the storms, but still think the store has some darn good Father’s Day products.

So, get a jump start on the holidays or next year’s pop’s day and stock up for the man who brought you into this world.
