Paws down, we’ve reached the Dog Days of Summer.

To bark the occasion we’d like to beg all you dog lovers to heel up on your pet’s safety and preparedness needs.

To help you motivate, we’re giving away Dog First Aid books (and some other goodies) to the winners of our Pet Pool Photo Contest!

Vote for your favorite pooch picture in the discussion section.

If you think your dog has what it takes to compete with these entrants, fetch these instructions and dive in the photo pool:

1. Go to www.flickr.com
2. Register
3. Upload photos of your dog
4. Dive into the American Red Cross Pet Pool by clicking this link and then clicking ”Join”
5. Click the button that says “You”
6. Click on the photo you’d like to submit
7. Above the photo, click on “Send to Group”
8. Choose “American Red Cross Pet Pool”
9. Voila! You’ve entered!

We’ll pick a handful of finalists in mid-August and then let you vote for the winners.
