Tropical Storm Fay as Experienced by Florida Red Cross Workers on Twitter

We thought you might enjoy the Twitter interaction that happened yesterday between 2 of our Florida based Red Cross Public Affairs team members as they readied for and weathered Fay.

Fay has been a swervy and unpredictable storm. We were expecting to be reporting from Tampa (where our Justinator is located) but ended up focusing more on the Palm Beach area (where our infodude is located).

Read how events unfolded (in chronological order starting yesterday morning):

infodude: @JustiNator We are still monitoring, we aren’t even in the cone anymore. My flight lands at 9:55 tomorrow morning.

infodude: @JustiNator you are a machine!!!!

infodude: @JustiNator After it passes us, I will come be a PA volunteer for you!

infodude: @JustiNator Well my CEO told us to be prepared to deploy to help RC chapters to the north after it passes us. Ill keep in touch.

infodude: @JustiNator If there is any way I can help you from here just call, I will be more than happy too.

infodude: I feel like Red Cross PA is a fraternity of very awesome, dedicated people. You all rock, let’s do this!!!

infodude: The only hurricanes I like have a bright colored straw, mini umbrella and are served on the beach!

infodude: Its raining

infodude: The generator tests are making our office like a disco!

infodude: @JustiNator You hang in there!

infodude: So I guess I am sleeping in my office for what is amounting to a semi-aggressive rain storm, at least here in Palm Beach.

infodude: @JustiNator That’s crazy, it isn’t nearly that bad here. As soon as my chapter releases their strangle hold ill come help you.

infodude: Apparently I am a weasle, got out of sleeping at the office!!!

infodude: Tornado touched down in my town, and we have gotten 4+ inches of rain since midnight. This is a rain event.

infodude: Everyone seems to be ok, just damage. Another tornado on the ground close to me.

infodude: Tornado that touched down caused structure damage, including several horse barns – horses reported ok. It is a big equestrian area.

infodude: @JustiNator Lady just said on the news a roof tile flew through her bedroom window. Yikes!

infodude: We may have two tornados on the ground. Watch until 4PM

infodude: @JustiNator Thanks, I love the people of Tampa too!

infodude: My newspaper wasn’t delivered this morning – or it blew down the block.

infodude: Also, kudos to the Palm Beach Post for offering to send me a copy of the paper or refund me because mine got blown away!

infodude: Retweeting @Palm_Beach_Post: @infodude we’ve noticed a lot of people using Fay as an excuse to eat Pop-Tarts, Twinkies and ramen LOL

infodude: @Palm_Beach_Post HAHA. The Red Cross is still very concerned about tornados and flooding, particularly in the Wstrn Communities and Counties

infodude: Incase you were concerned, “The Donald” has put plywood over the windows of his beach club, so no damage.

Great teamwork guys! Keep it up!
