Call to Action: Recruit Youth Volunteers
-Post by Mat Morgan, Red Cross Youth
My mom speaks fondly of her last college final: she walked back to her apartment at UCLA, turned on her (8-track?), and let Alice Cooper’s “School’s out for summer / School’s out forever” blast for all the world to hear.
Many of us have fond memories of ending school and transitioning to the so-called real world. However, with school back in session at many high schools and colleges around the country, it is worth stressing that the Red Cross relies on the real-world work of many of these students for critical programs, visibility and fund raising.
In short, it’s time to begin thinking again about how to recruit local youth to bolster your programs.

As part of my Spanish radio and internet show, I’m conducting a campaign for Prepareness during this Hurricaine Season, providing information on how to prepare, assist in case of a disaster and volunteer to the Red Cross.
Horrah! for the staff of Service To The Armed Forces at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for their dedication and long hours managing the Get Info Call Center for Gustav, Hanna & Ike hurricaine assistance, truly a bunch of Heroes! God Bless
I have been donating blood since when I was 18 yrs of age. I feel the best way to attract today’s youth will be to give them something they can will wear and bring our Red Cross Name out.
I found this shirt posted at this site. Worth looking into and to get more younster and volunteers to join.
