Throughout September (National Preparedness Month), we tweeted preparedness tips.
All the tweets are below. They’re probably a little overwhelming for one blog post meal, but remember that they’re all here and you can use, blog, or retweet any of them at any time.

RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Create an emergency contact card and have each member of your family carry it in their wallet.

RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Print a list of your cell phone contacts in case of an emergency
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Don’t forget to include work and school arrangements when forming your disaster plan.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Is school in or out when disaster strikes? Check with your child’s school to get a copy of the emergency plans.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Teach your kids how & when to use 9-1-1. Post other emergency #s next to the phones in your house.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Conduct fire drills at your home twice a year. At the same time, change your fire alarm batteries.

RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Take a minute to chk your family’s 1st aid kit and note any depleted items. Add those items to your shopping list.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Keep at least a 3 day supply of water per person in your household– That’s 1 gallon of water per person per day.

RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: In an emergency you may be asked to shelter-in-place or evacuate. Plan for both possibilities.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Once you are out of a burning building, stay out! Call the fire department from a neighbor’s home or cell phone.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Pick a safe place where family could gather if a tornado is coming. It could be a basement even a center closet.
RedCross: Today’s Preparedness Tip: Hire a home inspector or architect to find out what structural improvements could reduce damage from disasters.
