How Fast Things Happen

November 7th, 2008 · 1 Comment

We noticed this stream of Tweets this morning about an apartment fire:

vhanna26: Our apartment is smoky and we have the door open and fans and A/C on. No one was hurt. I feel a bit shaky and weird.

vhanna26: One of the neighbors told me that the fire fighters came in and looked over our apartment with heat imaging devices.

vhanna26: I feel so sad for those directly affected. How fast things can happen. How easy that could have been Pat and me.

vhanna26: Watching a report on the fire on television.

vhanna26: Went back out. Two fire trucks are still out. People from the Red Cross are making assessments. Saw them speaking to one of the residents

withahook: @vhanna26 Wow! Those poor people in that apartment, thank goodness they were not hurt.

vhanna26: @withahook I talked to both of them. Luckily, they were awake when it happened.

Fires just like this happen many times each day. Make sure your family takes a few simple steps to prepare.

Wendy & Claire - thanks for posting the twitter stream I sent you this morning; it gives us all - even those who respond the fires daily - an idea of what it feels like to experience that devastation/disruption.
