Safety First! A Glimpse at CPR/AED Awareness Week

This post originally appeared on Windell’s Camp blog. Look how much fun they had learning CPR. Makes you want to take a class, too. Right?

It was certification day at Windells for all coaches and staff. A Red Cross worker came and gave us all hands on training on both first aid and CPR. It was very interesting and the teacher held the attention of the class very well. Here are the highlights:

1. You can’t use crazy glue instead of stitches, it just takes longer to heal.

2. If you knock out your teeth, put them in Milk and get to the dentist fast!!!

3. If giving CPR, it’s 30 pumps to every 2 breaths of air into the person.

4. It’s really easy to make a sling out of a bandanna.

5. The CPR dummies actually had lungs so you could tell if you were positioning them correctly when giving mouth to mouth.
