  1. I am concerned regarding the H1N1 flu virus; however, when I had symptoms of sinus drainage, sore throat, endless coughing, and low-grade fever, the Acute Care center diagnosed me with Acute Sinusitis without tests, prescribed me an anti-biotic, and sent me on my way. What rights do we have when we get checked out?

  2. thank you
it’s good for people understanding h1n1

  3. While I am cautiously concerned about H1N1, I am more worried about the media creating a panic over it. You hear almost nothing about prevention now, but if the spread of the virus picks up a little and there are no other “big” stories for them to report on (like Michael Jackson), there will be a pulic barrage of coverage that could cause near hysteria.

  4. What efforts are being made to contain the virus now before a pandemic begins that wasn’t being utilized before? Do we have to wait until a significant number of folks come down with a positive test before we start preparing for it to happen? Why can the labs be drawn and tested as each person comes in with the symtoms. Why is there a waiting period for something to “grow out” it’s already a live virus?? Just prescribing an anti biotic and sending patients on their way is NOT a suitable option. If anything your hurting the patients because they will not be able to build up anti bodies against this virus by blocking them with the anti biotics. As a parent of a post liver transplant and immuno suppressed child who just started back to school today, I’m extremely concerned!

  5. In response to Heather’s post, the government is doing everything it can to protect us from a possible outbreak/pandemic but like we have noticed with Hurricane Katrina and even our medicare system that the government doesn’t always perform as well as we would like. That is why I, and several experts in the field, would recommend becoming knowledgeable about what to do in case of a dire situation. I found a good article on how to prepare for such an eventuality that is worth a look over:

Give it a look. I hope it helps.
