I am not sure where all the confusion is. I am a Red Cross Instructor & Instructor Trainer.

As per the 2005 Guidelines- If you have taken a Community Class you should have learned a CPR ratio of 30 compression to 2 breaths. If you are a HealthCare Provider/ Professional Rescuer and you are doing 1 Person CPR you s...hould have learned 30 compression to 2 Breaths for an Adult, a Child, or an Infant. If you are doing 2 Person CPR the ratio for an Adult is 30 compressions to 2 Breaths, for a Child and an Infant the Ratio becomes 15 compressions to 2 Breaths. For the infant it can be done but many people feel that 1 person on an infant is better as they are so tiny.

For the people who say that this debate makes them not want to help all I can say is that if you start providing continue to do so until help arrives. As long as you perfom the skills to the level at which you were trained; and in the manner in which you were trained; you will not be successfully sued!

If fear of being sued is that strong- please at least call 911 so Advanced Medical Care can assist this person. I am in my 30's and know first hand that CPR can save a Life. Mine was. By a very well trained individual who made the decision to act and save a Life for that I will always be greatful! Learn CPR, great trained and educated so you too might beable to Save A Life! Don't let Fear get the best of you!

Being a firefighter/paramedic all too often do we see the other side of things when an AED is not available or CPR is not attempted. Statistics Prove that with an AED and good quality CPR, a persons chance of survival is increased to as much as 60%. It is because of these odds and being that SCA(sudden cardiac arrest) took my mother at the age of 42 that I became a firefighter/paramedic and also a small business owner who promotes and sells AED's along with teaching CPR in the community. I would just like to take a moment to say Great Job on promoting such awareness. Business and residents alike have fire alarms, burglar alarms, and fire extinguishers. Why in the heck would you not have a device that your almost 1000% more likely to use around??
If you need anything, Please feel free to ask.
Thank you ,
