Happy Thanksgiving

We here at headquarters thank you all for being a part of the American Red Cross.

You probably know what we’re up to for Thanksgiving this year (Holiday Mail for Heroes & Holiday Giving Campaign, of course), but I thought it might be a nice time to look back at what this organization has done on Thanksgiving over its 129 year history (seriously, click on that timeline – it’s amazing).

One New York Times article from November 22, 1914 stood out to me. Football, Thanksgiving, and the Red Cross go together! If you football fans want to look into this event and let us know if it has any historical significance to the creation of the NFL 6 years later, please do!

May your holidays be full of thanks, giving, happiness, and safety.
