Republican - If they were in the position to help us after 911 then how do you know they wouldn't have? If you were born in a third world country would you want help? If you lost both your parents and were alone wandering the streets... Or how about if you had an accident over here and lost both your legs. Would you want help from the government/taxpayer? It is simply right to help out people who are in a worse situation. Your attitude disgusts me.

Barbara - On average, 91 cents out of every dollar the Red Cross receives will be spent on disaster relief operations and recovery. The other 9 cents supports the general infrastructure/back office operations of the Red Cross such as HR, IT, communications, fundraising, corporate finance, etc. We do our best to report on how we are using pledged money; you can read the latest information on our Disaster Online Newsroom (http://newsroom.redcross.org/category/haiti-earthquake-Jan-2010/). Thanks for your comment!

This morning I read in the local paper that Rehabilitation professionals are needed in Haiti. I can fully understand this and due to my profession training and availability tried to connect with the local Red Cross. I was disappointed to be met by someone who had no knowledge or ability to refer me to someone else. Any suggestions?

The stewardship and reporting of dollars raised and how they are being appropriated is critically important. What are the administrative fees the Red Cross is charging? How is the Red Cross getting these dollars into action? What is the breakdown of appropriateion of dollars? How much has come in? Donors need to know where their money is going?

do you guys realize that if something like this happened to us, do you really think that they would help us.? I DON'T THINK SO. So all of you fake Democrats need to start thinking with your heads and not with you freak'n hearts. Lets get a life already I've been to Haiti and so what. who cares. Did they Help us with 9-11 again I don't think so. The ones you really need to worry about is your own damn families. You KNOW I'm right. Do I feel sorry for them, sure but I'm not helping. Because the only time the REDCROSS wants help or money is during the Christmas season or when something like this happens. They can't ask for it all the time. Again lets start thinking about our own. And If we are sending the militry over I think they should have guns and other weapons. Screw the Liberals they don't know a damn think look what Mr. Obama is doing to our own country he is running to the ground, and yes I did say Mr. Obama. The BEST PRESIDENT that this country has ever had is PRESIDENT REAGON AND PRESIDENTS BUSH AND BUSH POP.

Thinking about you Winnie and want you to know you're doing a great job. I love the on-the-ground reports. I would like to schedule an interview with you when you get back to the So. Tier. Until then, be safe. K

I serve Christian ministries and churches as a grant writing consultant and want people to know that there are similar texting options to donate to Christian ministries in Haiti.

One great opportunity is through Northwest haiti Christian Mission.

NWHCM is offering the option to donate toward our earthquake assistance efforts by texting “Support NWHCM” to 20222. Each text message will send a gift of $5 directly to relief and recovery work in Haiti.
