Nan Buzard, senior director of international response and programs with the American Red Cross, is three days into her week-long mission in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. She shares her story from a visit to Otsuchi, which was hit hard by the disaster.

Earthquakes in Japan

Last night, a series of major earthquakes struck off the coast of Japan. One of these earthquakes measured 8.9 in magnitude, according to the USGS. Tsunami warnings, advisories, and watches are in effect for many areas of the world, including Hawaii and coastal areas of California, Alaska, and Washington.
