I first discovered (and wrote about) Etsy as a source for authentic vintage and beautifully handmade Red Cross gifts and home décor back in February. Since then I’ve regularly searched Etsy for unique Red Cross-themed items with the intention of once again sharing my favorites with you. So if you’ve been feeling the itch to purchase a new Red Cross trinket, tote, or piece of jewelry or art – as I occasionally do – today’s your lucky day!
“Are You REDy?” Beaded Lanyard
In need of a fun but functional lanyard on which to hang your Red Cross nametag, ID card, certifications, or keys? Look no further than this lovely red-themed lanyard.
Transporting toiletries, medicines, and/or first aid supplies while traveling is both convenient and easy with this small, canvas zipper pouch. And I LOVE the red interior!
Upcycled Scrabble Bracelet
This unique bracelet, made from “R-E-D-C-R-O-S-S” scrabble tiles, vintage Red Cross images, and glass beads, would look lovely on any Red Crosser’s wrist. And in case you’re keeping score, this bracelet is worth 11 points.
As my search continued, I came across a number of Etsy items that inspired me, not just because of what they were, but because of what their sale would mean to the American Red Cross. The three items below were made by lovely individuals who, upon selling their item, plan to donate a percentage of the proceeds to the American Red Cross or to a particular fund within the organization.
Original Abstract Drawing: Fallen
When this beautifully bright but solemnly peaceful watercolor and pastel mixed media piece sells, the artist will donate $25 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Remembering 9/11 Wish Bracelets
All proceeds from the sale of these honorary wish bracelets – made in memory of those who perished and in honor of those who risked their lives to save others on September 11th – will be donated to the American Red Cross.
This post actually began with the last item listed above. My Etsy search led me to the Remembering 9/11 Wish Bracelets first, and knowing that a purchase would mean a donation to the Red Cross, I immediately ordered a set of five. In just about a month, my husband, children, sister, and I will proudly tie on our bracelets and make a wish.
Note: Neither I nor the American Red Cross have any affiliation with Etsy or the Etsy sellers listed above.
