Are you interested in connecting with other Red Cross enthusiasts, experts, and volunteers? Do you want to be a part of a virtual Red Cross community that shares life-saving information and gives comfort and hope during times of disaster? Most importantly, do you want to have fun while doing all of the above? If so, read on:
WHO: Any Red Cross employee or volunteer who wants to use online social tools to carry out the Red Cross mission. This means helping connect people with Red Cross services, getting the word out about Red Cross activities, inspiring donors, helping members of the public, and more. For Red Cross employees, this could also mean using social tools to interact with and serve your colleagues.
WHAT: Social Basics is a free, 1 hour web based course that was developed by the social engagement team at American Red Cross National Headquarters. The course is meant to give a primer on our organization’s social engagement philosophy and goals, while also going over tactics for engaging with people online.
This course is NOT meant to tell you how to tweet or make a Facebook group, but it will give you the resources you need to build a foundation for your social engagement success. Additionally, it will offer you an opportunity to get to know the social team at NHQ and make connections with other Red Crossers who do social engagement on a regular basis.
WHERE: You can find the Social Basics course by visiting EMBARC and searching for the class with the keywords “Social Basics”.
**PLEASE NOTE: EMBARC, formally known as SABA, is a learning management system through the American Red Cross. You must use an existing SABA login if you have one. If not, you can create a new one. You will receive a registration complete email with an attachment to read prior to taking the course.
