In part 2, we asked her why the American Red Cross isn’t spending all the money you’ve donated at once.
…there is no doubt in my mind we could have spent all the money very rapidly. Then we would pack up, go home and have nothing sustainable to show for it. We have to not only answer to donors, but to the people of Haiti. I want to make sure personally that every dollar is being well spent. We want to make sure that when we do leave the people of Haiti are better off and that their economy is jump-started in a way that has a sustainable impact on the country.
