Just arrived in Kuwait today for a field visit. The men and women here do such amazing work for their country so far from home. Virtually all of the service members are here on unaccompanied tours of a year, meaning that their families are not here with them. There are also many contract personnel and other civilians supporting the work here.
Our Red Cross team (3 staff total) support the entire area with emergency communications services, comfort and morale, and anything else that is needed. Several things strike me — that one Red Crosser always seems to accomplish as much as 3 people; that our office, no matter the location in the world, is always a hub of activity and feels like a warm, safe place; and how great it is to be part of this organization with these people, serving those who give so much.
That’s it for now.
