Tonight is the BCS National Championship football game that pits University of Alabama (Roll Tide) against University of Texas (Hook Em Horns).
Why do we mention this?
Well, we have at least one warming shelter in Texas whose residents have expressed a desire to watch the game tonight despite not having heat at home, so one of our shelter workers went searching for a donated TV to set up in the warming center. Volunteering for the Red Cross is an unpredictable adventure.
Our sources are attempting to learn whether residents in Alabama have made similar requests.
