Happy National Coffee Day

Happy National Coffee Day! We’re gonna need a little extra energy and preparedness to get through this week’s deluge:

Last night, New York City experienced a rare tornado watch. NY Daily News reports that 5 tornadoes have hit the city in the past 3 years. Only 5 twisters hit between 1950 and 2006.

Today, a tropical depression is hanging over Cuba and affecting South Florida. After  passing through Florida tomorrow, the system is expected to race up the east coast, potentially causing major flooding.

  1. Ah, coffee!!

    Having got my start in the Red Cross on the World Trade Center disaster, I gulped down a lot of caffeine back in the day. Even doing data entry was hectic. I later perfected what I called the “disaster breakfast”–a Power Bar washed down with black coffee. That’ll keep you going!

    Funny thing, though… I can’t recall doing that since the DRO wound down.
